Question Are landlord supposed to be responsible to get rid of bugs?

I rent an apartment and there have been a lot of bugs invading my suite recently. I am not sure where they came from but I suspect it was from the cracks in the window panels.
Is this supposed to be my landlord’s responsibility to get the exterminator and paid for their service? I tried to explain this to my landlord but he insists that I should paid the exterminator for myself.
Anyone have experience like this? What should I do?

That's a valid problem which the landlord should help with. Perhaps the windows need caulking. However, it doesn't look like you're dealing with a nice person.

Default Yes!

Basically, unless you are living in your own squaler it is their responsibility to do something about it and never if you can help it treat the problem and then try to get the money back, because a snowballs chance in hell is better. Dont feal guilty to pester them relentlesly about it otherwise nothing will get done.

I would say yes as it is the responsibility of the landlord to assure that the place is fit for human inhabitation.

Even this obligation is not explicitly stated on the rental contract, you still have a good case as it argued that it is an implied obligation that is so obvious that that is no need to state it.

may be you have a broken window or something else that the bugs use to enter your apt, but this shouldn't be your problem. The landlord has to find out what the problem is. If he is doing rental business, he should also provide quality of service.
